Disney Boardwalk Resort:

A Review of the Disney Boardwalk Hotel
Disney Boardwalk Resort Tip:

This is a great resort if you plan on hitting Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk.

However, if you plan on spending most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, you might want to try a resort closer to that park like the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

The Disney Boardwalk Inn is another of the Disney Epcot luxury hotels - pretty much in the perfect location. Adjacent to the Boardwalk Entertainment district, it is a short walking distance to Epcot,  Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin hotels.

You can also walk to Hollywood Studios in about 15-25 minutes.

The Inn is modeled after the romantic bed-and-breakfast inns found along the mid-Atlantic coast of the 1940s.

In addition to great location and proximity to some excellent restaurants, there's a huge pool with a 200-foot-long water slide made to look like a seaside roller coaster.

Is the Boardwalk resort the right place for you? Here's a quick review to help you decide.

Theme: 1940s Bed and Breakfast Inn

Room Notes:  Rooms are average size for a Disney Resort with nautically themed drapes and bedding, French doors, and wrought-iron headboards.

Some rooms have balconies. Rooms come with standard views, water views and garden views.  You can get view of the Boardwalk (water view), however these can be noisier than the standard views.

Dining Options:  All your dining is on the Boardwalk and there are some excellent options here.

In addition to the Boardwalk restaurants, you are also within a short walk to the restaurants at the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Epcot, Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

The restaurants available on the Boardwalk are:

Flying Fish Cafe (Signature, Full Service - Excellent Seafood)
Big River Grille and Brewing Works (Full Service)
ESPN Club (Full Service)
Boardwalk Bakery (Quick Service)
Seashore Sweets (Quick Service)
Jelly Rolls (Dance Club)
Atlantic Dance Hall (Dance Club)

Transportation: One of the main reasons to choose the Disney Boardwalk Resort is because of it's location.

It's just a short walk to Epcot or the Boardwalk and about 15-20 minute walk to Hollywood Studios. Here are your transportation options:

- Walk to Epcot (International Gateway), Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Dolphin Resort, Swan Resort or Hollywood Studios

- Water Taxi to Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Yacht club

- Buses to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Water parks and Disney Resorts.

Recreation: Because of it's central location, you have access to a lot of recreation activies including those on the Boardwalk.  Some of your options while staying in the resort include:

- 3 pools - Main pool with 200-foot-long Keister Coaster water slide. 2 Quiet pools
- 2 Whirlpool spas
- Children's Playground
- Tennis
- Marina/boat rental
- Arcade
- Fishing
- Running/Jogging trail
- Fitness club
- Bike Rental (2 or 3 person bikes available)

Plus the Boardwalk Inn also offers a full service spa (treatments are extra)

Strengths:

- Right on the Boardwalk with great views of Crescent lake, restaurants, night clubs and stores.
- Excellent location: walking distance to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Boardwalk, Boardwalk Inn, Swan and Dolphin Resorts
- Bike rentals (for 2 or even 3 people) along the Boardwalk are a popular activity for those off-theme-park days

Weaknesses:

- Buses to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom can be full in busy seasons since they service the Swan and Dolphin as well as the Boardwalk
Resort Tip: While you can walk to Epcot from this resort, remember that you'll be entering through the International Gateway (back door) into the World Showcase.

The World Showcase usually opens 2 hours later than Epcot's Future World.

So if you want to be at the park at the earliest possible time, take the boat to Hollywood studios, then a bus to Epcot, which will take you to the front of the park (Future World).
Disney Hidden Gem:

For a relaxing, laid back morning, grab a coffee and muffin at the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast.

You can sit outside on the boardwalk and watch people, bikes and boats go by. It's a beautiful view and a calm change from the craziness of the theme parks.
