A Review of the Port Orleans Resort At Disney World
Disney Port Orleans French Quarter Tip:

If you're looking for an affordable but romantic Disney getaway, this is a great resort.

It's smaller and less crowded with access to cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriage rides and a boat taxi to the Downtown Disney clubs.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort is divided into 2 sections - Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. The French Quarter is the smaller (and some would say less crowded) of the two.

With live jazz, cobblestone streets, and flower courtyards the theme is the New Orleans' historic French Quarter (cleaned up Disney-style).

With water taxis to Downtown Disney or the Port Orleans Riverside (along with the charming atmosphere), this makes it a popular choice for romantic getaways like honeymoons or anniversaires.

Is the Port Orleans French Quarter the right hotel for you? Here's a quick review to help you decide.

Theme: New Orleans Mardi Gras

Room Notes:  The resort consists of seven low-rise buildings, each surrounded by cobblestone streets and lush gardens. Rooms are inspired by Mardi Gras celebrations.

Rooms are an average size. However they were completely refurbished only a few years ago and are some of the nicest found at a Disney moderate resort.

Dining Options:  Your dining options here are limited - however you can hop over to the Port Orleans Riverside to eat - or take a boat to Downtown Disney.

The restaurants available at the French Quarter are:

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food factory (quick service food court)

There's also a pool bar and lounge as well as room service.

Transportation: Transportation options are better at this resort than several of the other moderate resorts, mainly because of the boat taxi.

- Water Taxi to Downtown Disney or Port Orleans Riverside
- Walking Distance to Port Orleans Riverside
- Buses to all Theme parks, Water parks, Downtown Disney, Disney Resort hotels

Recreation: The 1 main pool here is called Doubloon Lagoon, with alligator fountains and a colorful dragon waterslide.

- 1 pool
- 1 Whirlpool spa
- Child Pool
- Arcade
- Playground
- Running/Jogging trail
- Bike Rentals
- Watercraft Rentals
- Fishing
- Horse Drawn Carriages

Strengths:

- Boat taxi to downtown Disney
- Less crowded than Port Orleans Riverside
- With it's charming, romantic theme, and boat taxi to Downtown Disney, it's great for romantic vacations like honeymoons or anniversaires

Weaknesses:

- Food options at the resort are limited
- No Fitness Center
Dining Tip: While dining options are limited here, you can walk (or take a water taxi) to the Port Orleans Riverside resort which has a full service restaurant.

You can also take a short water taxi to Downtown Disney which has lots of restaurant options.
