Disney Yacht Club Resort:

A Review of the Yacht Club At Disney World
Disney Yacht Club Resort Tip:

This is a great resort if you plan on hitting Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk.

However, if you plan on spending most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, you might want to try a resort closer to that park like the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

The Disney World Yacht Club Resort is themed as New England Yacht club around the turn of the century. It sits right next to Disney's Beach club resort and is a short walking distance to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and the Swan and Dolphin hotels.

With it's nautical, New England theme, brass trimmings, hardwood floors, miniature ships on display and navy and white color scheme, the Yacht Club seems a little more upscale than the Beach club resort.

The 2 resorts share an incredible three-acre lakeside water park Stormalong Bay, with an outdoor pool, water slides, spa tubs, two quiet pools, and white-sand beach

Is the Yacht Club resort the right place for you? Here's a quick review to help you decide.

Theme: New England Yacht Club - Think Martha's Vineyard in the 1880's

Room Notes:  Rooms are an average size for a Disney deluxe resort with nautical accents, headboards in the shape of a ship’s wheel and blue/gold colors.

Most rooms have balconies and have views of the parking area, garden, pool, or lake. You can request to have a lakeside view which, for most people, is well worth the extra.

Dining Options:  Your dining options at the Yacht club are excellent.

In addition to several restaurants at the Beach club and Yacht club you are also within a short walk to the restaurants on the Boardwalk, Epcot, Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

The restaurants available at the Beach club and Yacht club are:

Cape May Cafe (Full Service Buffet Dinner with Character Breakfast)
Hurricane Hanna's Grill (Quick Service)
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop (Quick Service)
Yachtsman Steakhouse (Full Service Signature)
Captain's Grille (Full Service)

Transportation: One of the main reasons to choose the Disney Yacht Club Resort is because of it's location.

It's just a short walk to Epcot or the Boardwalk and about 15-20 minute walk to Hollywood Studios. Here are your transportation options:

- Walk to Epcot (International Gateway), Boardwalk, Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club or Hollywood Studios

- Water Taxi to Boardwalk Inn, Hollywood Studios Epcot

- Buses to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Water parks and Disney Resorts.

Recreation: The main attraction here is the water complex shared with the Beach club resort.

Stormalong Bay consists of a zero-depth entry, sand bottom pool, water slide, waterfalls spa tubs and white sand beaches. All your recreation options include:

- 2 pools
- 7 Whirlpool spas
- Tennis
- Marina/boat rental
- Arcade
- Fishing
- Beach Volleyball
- Running/Jogging trail
- Fitness club
- Nightly Bedtime Stories (channel 14)

Plus the Yacht club also offers a full service spa (treatments are extra)

Strengths:

- One of the best pool complexes at Disney World
- Excellent location: walking distance to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Boardwalk, Boardwalk Inn, Swan and Dolphin Resorts
- Because of it's central location you have access to tons of restaurants including Boardwalk and Epcot restaurants
- Nightly Bedtime Stories that kids will love (Channel 14)

Weaknesses:

- Some rooms are becoming a bit dated and worn
- Buses to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom can be very full since they service the Yacht club, Beach club, Boardwalk Inn, Swan, and Dolphin Hotels
Dining Tip:

The Beach Club Breakfast Buffet Character breakfast is extremely popular and fills up fast - since there are so many Disney resorts in the area.

Make sure you make your reservations as soon as possible.
Resort Tip: While you can walk to Epcot from this resort, remember that you'll be entering through the International Gateway (back door) into the World Showcase.

The World Showcase usually opens 2 hours later than Epcot's Future World.

So if you want to be at the park at the earliest possible time, take the boat to Hollywood studios, then a bus to Epcot, which will take you to the front of the park (Future World).
