Grand Floridian Hotel
Grand Floridian Resort:

A Review of the Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa
Grand Floridian Tip: If you want a really special experience, ask for a room where you can see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom at night.

It may cost you a bit more, but most people find that it's worth it.

The Disney Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the most luxurious of all the Disney Resorts.

Constructed of white frame buildings with red shingle roofs, the Grand Floridian is an elegant throwback to turn-of-the-century luxury seaside hotels.

While some visitors have found it a bit formal, I personally loved the elegant open lobby complete with gas lamps, chandeliers and the live orchestra playing.

Is the Grand Floridian hotel the right place for you? Here's a quick review to help you decide.

Theme: Turn of the Century Victorian Seaside Hotel

Room Notes:  Excellent size, larger than most Disney resorts. Many rooms have balconies. Can get rooms with a view of Cinderella's castle at the Magic Kingdom  (usually for an extra cost).

Dining Options:  There are some excellent dining options including several full service and 1 quick service restaurant. They do tend to be on the higher priced side, however the food is amazing. Restaurants include:

Citricos (Full Service)
Grand Floridian Café (Full Service)
Garden View Tea
Narcoossee's (Full Service)
Victoria & Albert's (Full Service)
Gasparilla Grill & Games (Quick Service)

Transportation: Again, some of the best transportation options in Disney World including:

- Monorail to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Polynesian Resort and Contemporary Resort.

- Water Taxi to Magic Kingdom and Polynesian Resort

- Buses to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Water parks and Disney Resorts.

Recreation: The Grand Floridian hotel has quite a few options that will suit everyone from children to older adults. Some recreation options are:

- 2 pools
- Playground for kids
- Tennis
- Marina/boat rental
- Arcade
- Fishing
- Beach Volleyball
- Running/Jogging trail
- Fitness club
- Beauty salon
- Wi-Fi Internet Access

Plus the Grand Floridian also offers a full service spa (treatments are extra)

Strengths:

- The most luxurious Disney Resort
- Excellent customer service
- Wide selection of restaurants
- Can request a room with a view of Cinderella's castle at the MK
- Close to the parks with lots of transportation options including the Monorail
- Full Service Spa

Weaknesses:

- Expensive
- Some people find it a bit formal
Grand Floridian Tip: While younger children may not fully appreciate the theme or luxury of the Grand Floridian, adults will love it.

It's also a very romantic setting for a honeymoon or wedding anniversary.
